What is Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT)? A Guide for Providers
As a healthcare provider, you know that medicine is only one piece of the puzzle. True health requires a foundation of preventative medicine, root-cause nutrition, and sustainable lifestyle modifications.
Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) is an evidence-based, clinical nutrition treatment provided by specialized Registered Dietitians and nutrition professionals holding advanced qualifications, such as a Master’s degree or Doctorate in nutrition. By bridging the gap between clinical medicine and daily lifestyle habits, MNT serves as an extension of your practice to optimize patient care.
How Medical Nutrition Therapy Improves Patient Outcomes
Partnering with a specialized nutrition professional allows your patients to receive targeted, individualized dietary interventions that support your clinical treatment plans. MNT elevates patient health by:
Managing Chronic Conditions: Providing customized, lab-aligned medical nutrition protocols for Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes, Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), advanced cardiovascular health, complex GI disorders, and metabolic syndrome.
Enhancing Clinical Outcomes: Utilizing science-backed dietary strategies to shift biomarkers, improve glycemic control, lower inflammatory markers, and enhance overall well-being.
Driving Preventative Health & Lifestyle Changes: Empowering patients with long-term, sustainable behavioral guidance that prevents disease progression before advanced intervention is needed.
Our comprehensive telehealth and in person MNT services allow primary care providers and specialists to refer patients for virtual nutrition counseling, ensuring your patients have seamless, comfortable access to expert dietary care from anywhere.
State-Specific Referral Requirements for MNT
